Video B-roll from Ex DUSTY THUNDER - 4 Wing Cold Lake

Members of 4 Wing/CFB Cold Lake and Canadian Forces Ammunition Depot Dundurn disposed of surplus shock charges in a section of the Cold Lake Air Weapons Range from November 24-26, 2015 during Exercise DUSTY THUNDER.

The disposal took place approximately 40 km north of Cold Lake. During the exercise, a total of 21,200 lbs of explosives were detonated during three separate blasts, the largest being two explosions of 10,000 lbs each.

The Canadian Armed Forces routinely dispose of surplus and expired ammunition and explosives on ranges and controlled properties across Canada. CFB Cold Lake’s range was selected for this particular project due to its size and remoteness to populated areas.
