How to Stop Your Facebook Apps From Spamming Your Friends

It’s hard to avoid downloading apps on Facebook. Try as you might to avoid them, there’s always some third-party app on the site that your friends bombard you with invitations to join, or some game that your connections challenge you to play. Problems don’t arise from downloading these apps, but users can run into trouble if they don’t properly control what the apps can do with their information. That’s why Business Insider published a valuable blog post this week telling readers how they can stop their Facebook apps from spamming their friends. First, open your Facebook page and click on the “Settings” button in the upper right-hand corner of the browser window. Next, click on the Apps tab underneath “General Account Settings.” From there, you can control all facets of your apps, including who can see them, what they can do, and whether or not you want to keep them at all. You can also click the “X” button next to the option for apps to “Post on your behalf.” This will effectively prevent your apps from spamming your friend list.
Though apps can be fun, they often prove to be more trouble than they’re worth for users by annoying their friends with requests, messages and timeline posts. If you aren’t using them, it’s best to get rid of them all together and avoid the hassle.
