Unfortunately as we age we see a number issues with our bodies, but even worse is when the conditions affect our brains and nervous systems. The operating systems of our being. Degenerative conditions (such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and Huntington’s diseases) wreak havoc on the brain and nervous system. The nervous system and brain become much more susceptible to these with age and scientists still have yet to find a definite cure for these diseases. However, neurologists at the University of Dublin claim cannabis could be the key in treating these horrible ailments.
Researchers believe that compounds which target the endocannabinoid system could possibly lead to these treatments. As a matter of fact studies have already shown promise involving THC, one of the main compounds in cannabis, with managing some of Alzheimer’s symptoms.
Previous studies have found the prevention of dopamine neuron loss in animal Parkinson’s models due to THC.
Previous research has also shown how the anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties of marijuana can have protective effects with many different conditions.
