One of the most pressing topics currently being discussed when it comes to medical cannabis is whether or not the plant might be able to help treat cancer. This is an important discussion for all sorts of reasons.
When it comes to the law, for example, cannabis has been classified as a Schedule I banned substance. Drugs in this category have been defined as “drugs with no currently accepted medical use and a high potential for abuse.”
Presumably, if cannabis were proven to have medical benefits it might make it easier to reclassify it and maybe even legalize it.
But the most important part about this discussion is that if we can figure out how to use cannabis to treat cancer, it could help save millions of lives every year.
