After reports of a chemical taste in several Farmers Dairy milk
products in Atlantic Canada they were pulled off the shelf late last
week.
This impacts products sold in Nova Scotia, P.E.I., New Brunswick and buttermilk sold in Newfoundland.
The company said, “We would like to advise our consumers that we are
initiating a voluntary withdrawal due to an off-taste flavor.” They also
said in a release that there are no health risk associated with the
consumption of these products.
One man told CBC that after drinking it he had a Javex taste in his mouth.
Farmers Dairy believes that it is isolated to a specific production period from reports they received.
Several products are being pulled including two per cent milk, one per cent milk, chocolate milk and 3.25 per cent milk.
Consumers can return the products to their point of sale for a full refund or contact Consumer-Response at 1 800-501-1150.
