Ten vaccinated kids have confirmed cases of whooping cough

The Carteret County Health Department is warning parents to be on the lookout for whooping cough symptoms in their kids. There are currently ten confirmed cases- in Vaccinated kids of the highly contagious respiratory disease in the county.Whopping cough, also called pertussis, is easily spread through talking, sneezing or coughing. Symptoms begin with a runny nose, sneezing, mild fever and a cough that slowly gets worse. The disease is known for the uncontrolled coughing spells, especially at night, and and the high-pitched “whoop” sound when the person inhales
