Has South Africa acquired 'herd immunity'?

  Leading scientists in South Africa believe the country has established a form of collective or herd immunity to COVID-19 after the number of infections unexpectedly plummeted following a major outbreak in June and July. some 16 million people are HIV positive with 7 million of those on Anti-reroviral medication. Note there are many more undiagnosed. You would think that with an immune compromised population (30%) that the death rate would be very high... not so.
