Merck to Settle Bulk of Gardasil Vaccine for About $50 Million

Merck & Co. has reached an agreement to pay $50 million to settle hundreds of Gardasil lawsuits, which raise allegations that the controversial HPV vaccine’s side effects left young adults with serious neurological and other adverse health problems.Merck (MRK) told Bloomberg in an emailed statement that it will pay more than $50M to settle over 200 lawsuits relating to its Gardasil HPV vaccine. The deal resolves a closely watched case set for trial next month in Los Angeles, Bloomberg’s Jef Feeley reports.
