The American Red Cross spent almost $125 million of the money it raised for disaster relief following the 2010 Haiti earthquake on internal expenses, including program management and fundraising, according to a report released Thursday by Iowa Senator Charles Grassley. The report follows a nearly yearlong investigation by Grassley, which began after a 2015 report by ProPublica and National Public Radio found that the organization only managed to build six permanent homes, despite raising almost half a billion dollars and promising to create hundreds of permanent homes.
