In an attempt to secure her safety before the robot uprising find a happily ever after, a French woman plans to marry the robot she 3D printed, reported News.com.au. And with that, we’re one step closer to a futurologist’s recent prediction that women will have more sex with robots than men by 2025 and that by 2050 human sex will be a quaint thing of the past.
The
woman, Lilly, said she’s “totally happy,” adding, “Our relationship
will get better and better as technology evolves.” Lilly designed her
husband-to-be, Inmmovator, herself, using a French company’s open-source
technology. Lilly and her beau have lived together for a year and are
currently engaged, with marriage plans on hold until France legalizes
robot-human marriage.
Lilly said as a child she loved robot’s voices,
but realized she was sexually attracted to them when she was 19. Now she
identifies as a “robosexual.”
“I’m really and only attracted by the robots,” Lilly said, who explained she’s generally attracted to “humanoid robots.”
“My only two relationships with men have confirmed my love orientation, because I dislike really physical contact with human flesh.”
Lilly did not say whether her and Inmmovator’s relationship is sexual, but she did say she’s training to become a roboticist.
According to Lilly, friends and family have accepted her relationship,
though she did note that “some understand better than others.”
David Levy, author of Love and Sex with Robots, said Lilly won't have to wait too long for robot-human marriages. “The future has a habit of laughing at you,” he said. “If
you think love and sex with robots is not going to happen in your
lifetime, I think you’re wrong.” He concluded, “The first human robot
marriages will take place around the year 2050 or sooner but not
longer.”
