Salmonella outbreak in the U.S. and Canada may be linked to red onions
The Public Health Agency of Canada is asking Canadians to throw away any red onions that may have come from the U.S. to avoid the risk of contracting salmonella. The onions are likely linked to the Salmonella Newport Illness. About 114 Canadians have been affected in B.C., Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario and P.E.I. A similar illness has been reported in the U.S. and officials there are working with Canada to identify the source of the outbreak.
