In a heated exchange during question period in the House of Commons on Monday, Conservative MPs Raquel Dancho and Rob Moore grilled the Liberals on firearms legislation Bill C-21 and its amendments, referencing recent comments by National Hockey League (NHL) goaltender Carey Price. Minister of Public Safety Marco Mendicino defended the bill, saying it only targets AR-15 style rifles. “The intent of the government has always been clear. We are not targeting law-abiding gun owners or hunters, we are targeting the AR-15 style guns which have been used in some of the worst shooting tragedies in this country’s history, including Polytechnique,” Mendocino said, referencing the 1989 Montreal massacre. “It seems the only person in this chamber that does not understand this bill is the minister himself. The bill lists, in black and white, the exact hunting rifles that the bill is banning,” Moore said. “Constituents calling their members of parliament, both NDP and liberal — they understand this bans hunting rifles. Carey Price, NHL goalie, understands it bans hunting rifles… Leave hunters alone.” In a photo uploaded to Price's Instagram account Saturday afternoon, the Montreal Canadiens star goalie posted a caption that said “What [Justin Trudeau] is trying to do is unjust. I support the [Canadian Coalition for Firearms Rights] to keep my hunting tools. Thank you for listening to my opinion." For more info, please go to https://globalnews.ca/news/9315265/sa...
