Cumberland County District RCMP has charged a doctor with sexual assault. Investigators believe there may be additional victims.
In
May, Cumberland County District RCMP received a report of a sexual
assault involving a doctor at Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre
(CRHCC) in Upper Nappan. Investigators learned that the assault took
place in January 2025 during an assessment at the CRHCC emergency room.
On
August 14, officers safely arrested Sanjeev Sirpal and charged him with
Sexual Assault. He was released on conditions pending a first court
appearance scheduled for November 15 at Amherst Provincial Court.
Police
believe there may be additional victims in Nova Scotia or other places
that Sirpal has practiced. Investigators are aware that he was
previously employed in Quebec and Nova Scotia and is now in New
Brunswick. Cumberland County District RCMP is reaching out to offer
support and encourage anyone who may be a survivor to come forward by
contacting your local police. Victims can contact police and discuss an

investigation and court process. Cumberland County District RCMP can be
