Harvard settles body part theft lawsuits for $53 million

Harvard University has been ordered to pay $53 million to settle a class-action lawsuit filed by families whose loved ones’ remains, donated in good faith for medical research, were stolen and sold by Cedric Lodge, the man who managed Harvard Medical School’s morgue for nearly thirty years.
A Boston state court judge granted preliminary approval to the settlement this week, years after Lodge’s arrest for systematically removing and trafficking human body parts.
